Miniature Art Show Awards 2016

While some may think of tiny doll-house art when they hear the words 'Miniature Art', it is in fact a long-lived original art form that requires as much if not more talent and skill than that of a fine artist working on a larger scale. Due to the minute size of the art, typically 1/6 of the subject's life size, it can take a miniature artist up to 6 times longer to complete these tiny masterpieces. What makes Miniature Art so special is the minute attention to detail and technical perfection of the artist's skill. The work is meant to be experienced up close. It literally fits in the palm of your hand. "Miniature art is a unique art fine art form, tracing its origins from illuminated manuscripts and medallions. As a portable intimate form of art, it was easily carried in a pocket or a locket and basked in popularity from the court of Henry VIII up until the advent of photography in the mid 1800s.", explains Wes Siegrist renowned Miniature Fine Artist and Historian.  These scaled works of art are truly treasures to behold, and often with a magnifying glass.

Artistic Designs Gallery is proud to display their juried exhibition of over 125 of these exquisitely detailed works in acrylic, oil, watercolor, graphite, colored pencil, pastels, oil on ivorine, mixed media, etchings, pen and ink.  You can view the show during regular business hours in our gallery. All works will remain on exhibit through the duration of the show and may be picked up by or shipped to the buyers after the show closes on August 27.
